Background Jean Watson is a native of West Virginia. She attended Lewis Gale School of Nursing in Roanoke Virginia. In 1964 she received her Bachelor's in Nursing. Watson was able to earn her Master's of Science degree in 1966 in psychiatric mental health nursing. She continued on this path and earned her doctorate in 1973 from the University of Colorado in educational psychology and counseling. Watson is a distinguished professor of nursing and chair in caring science at the University of Colorado Health Science Center which she founded. (McEwen and Wills, 2011, p. 174) |
